Volunteers in Emergency Services is an online tool available to all volunteer's in any volunteer program. The city of Independence has several different programs that are designed to assist not only the people who live in the city limits, but also Jackson County and surrounding areas that may need help in the event of an emergency. Most of the volunteer programs are made up of civilians who donate their time and efforts to help out when needed. Each volunteer group has training and testing that is required to ensure that each volunteer is capable of handling an emergency in the most efficient and safest possible way.
This website has several types of services that provide information for the general public. We encourage you to take the time and register on this website. During times of severe weather or emergencies, this website provides several tools to assist people looking to get more information. Please feel free to look around and experiment with the different items on this site. Check back often, more items are being added almost every day. If your looking for a place to get started. Please click the "Tutorial" link located on the left hand side and read the basics. We hope you enjoy the site and the information provided.
We are always looking for new volunteers. If you feel you have the willingness and the needed skills to help out other people, please click on the volunteer applications section and submit your information for the group your interested in. A coordinator will respond back with information about the services their group provides, and what is needed to become a member.
All volunteers are urged to use the tools available on this web-site. Please use the forums section to communicate with other volunteers in your groups. These are valuable communications tools that when used, can benefit everyone.
